Before going through itinerary lets divide entire 177 km long Manaslu Circuit Trek Route into four different segments on basis of geographical location and cultural practice of people residing in Manaslu.

Section 1 – Arughat to Philim
Section 2 – Deng to Samdo
Section 3 – Dharmasala to Bimthang
Section 4 – Bimthang to Beshi Sahar

Arughat to Philim

First section of Manaslu Circuit Trek passes mostly through residence of Brahmin, Cherty and Gurung ethnic from Nepal. Trail passes through terraced fields and developed motor able road track. Soti Khola is last settlement up to where trekkers can go through local jeep or bus. Budi Gandaki River will accompany you and restricted region of Manaslu Conservation Area starts from wide opening of Jagat. Housing style is different in village of Philim. People are quite common to those spotted of Kathmandu and Gorkha so is there dialect. We skip trail from Arughat to Soti Khola with help of four wheel local jeep and stat trek from Soti Khola, we promise that you won’t miss important part of circuit trek.

Deng to Samdo

Onward from Philim again everything changes dramatically specially in terms of local and housing. Trail to Hidden Valley of Happiness, i.e. Tsum Valley get separated from Ghum Bridge. Local people often declared the region as start of Nubri Himalayan State that extends all the way to Dolpo on western of Nepal. People resemble with Tibetan Natives in every aspects. Trust us everything changes as you enter start of Nubri Valley through narrow gorge of Budi Gandaki. This is the most beautiful part of Manaslu Circuit Trek. We allocate two successive rest days in this section. Majestic view of Mighty Manaslu from Village of Lho, Birendra Lake and Manaslu Base Camp are the major attraction on this section. We will guide you to Tibetan Border on second rest day at Village of Samdo.

Dharmasala to Bimthang

Onward from Samdo there is no settlement until you reach Bimthang on Manang District. Larkya Phedi or Dharmasala is key teahouse in Manaslu that bridge settlements of Bimthang and Samdo via Larkya La Pass. Just incase if teahouse is close in Dharmasala then it is great challenge to traverse pass in one day from Samdo to Bimthang. This is the alpine section of Manaslu Circuit.

Dharmasala to Bimthang Section of Manaslu is shortest, as it last for one day only. Trail passes through snowy terrain and offer breathing view of himalayas. During winter it is almost impassable with high level of snow. Crampons or micro spike might be helpful while descending.

Bimthang to Beshi Sahar

Almost similar to last part of Section 1 from Arughat to Philim it is mostly inhabited by Ghale and Gurung ethnics. Onward from Dharapani trail is overcrowded by trekkers on the way to Annapurna Circuit. More or less it is mostly downhill trail toward Beshi Sahar. Trail is completely destroyed by motor able road and is busy with four wheels jeep. So on our Rapid Manaslu Circuit Trek we mostly skip this section of Manaslu. If time permits then you can hike toward Annapurna Circuit and descend to traditional village of Kagbeni on bank of Kali Gandaki River that is supposed to be older than Himalayas. From Beshi Sahar depending on itinerary we will help you on relocating to Pokhara or Kathmandu.

All right now lets build some idea about side trip to Tsum Valley. First 3 days we will share exactly same itinerary and divert toward Tsum on day 4th. At the end of Tsum Valley we again continue same itinerary from Day 5th. Apart from regular 4 different section of Manaslu Circuit Trek we will explore Tsum as a two different section. So without any due here is brief intro about two different section of Tsum Valley.

Section 1 – Lokpa to Chumling / Dumje
Section 2 – Chekampar to Mu Monastery and Gumba Lundang

Lokpa to Chumling / Dumje

Entire Tsum is locally divided into lower and upper Tsum Valley. Lokpa is the first settlement in Tsum. Don’t expect big village, its two guesthouses and one under construction. People are almost similar with Section of Deng to Samdo in Manaslu Circuit Trek. Chumling is old village and people are more traditional in all aspects. A thing to see is old monastery above the village and view of Ganesh Himal from there. Traditional old Chorten made of mud and stone give more exotic looks to barely field and entire settlement of Chumling. Little ahead is farming settlement of Dumje. Onward from Dumje left trail lead to Chekampar (Upper Tsum Valley) and right to isolated Gumba Lundang.

Chekampar to Mu Monastery and Gumba Lundang

After short hike up from Dumje big settlement of Chekampar will appear. People are still native to Tibetan. Housing are typical and people are dressed differently. Milarepa Cave next to settlement of Burzi most be explored. Instead of Burzi Rachen Gompa can be good alternatives through female nun monastery. Nile Chule is last settlement toward Tibet after isolated Mu Monastery. This is most section of Tsum. Old Nun Monastery next to Mu – Monastery can be a side trip. Good view of Himalayas Range can be witness. Gumba Lundang is most primitive place with female nun monastery. Ganesh Himal Base Camp can be day trip from Gumba Lundang. On the way back to Deng (Manaslu Circuit Section) instead of Chumling, Ripchet can be a good alternative with aerial view of Chumling.

The elevation range around 4200 m in Mu Monastery. So it can be a good acclimatization trip as trails head down to elevation of 1840 m and slowly hike up with two successive acclimatization day in Sama Gaon and Samdo. Personal Hygiene is the most important factors that need to be taken care of.
